03.26.04
- With an elegant and flawless
performance, Maria and Alexei finished 2nd in the short
program at the world championships. Several mistakes in
the free program resulted in a 4th place finish overall
for them.
03.13.04 -
Maria and Alexei will be
competing at the World Championships in Dortmund, Germany,
from March 22-28. Their schedule is as follows:
March 22 - Pairs Short (18:30)
March 24 - Pairs Free (18:30)
02.07.04 - Maria and Alexei finished the event
with the silver medal. The following are quotes from Alexei
after the short and free programs (additional quotes from

Quotes from Alexei after short program:
We have reached a very high level in skating, but now
we have to show all we can in competition. We are very happy
with our performance today, there was only a minor mistake
in the landing of the throw jump. After Russian Nationals,
we improved our spins and the side by side triple toe. Maria
is still bothered by her old foot injury, it’s getting
better slowly, but she is still in pain.
Quotes from Alexei after the free program: We
felt very good about our performance, especially because
Masha didn’t feel well today. So we’re happy
she was able to put out such a performance. This was our
best free program this season, it was the first time we
skated clean this year. We improved part of the technical
elements, part of the expression, we were more theatrical.
We hoped to be in first place. Although we had a minor mistake
on the throw (Salchow), we felt our program was more expressive
and technically more demanding.
02.02.04 - Maria and Alexei are competing at the
European Championships in Budapest, Hungary. Maria and Alexei
skate 13 of 16 teams in the short program. The schedule:

01.10.04 - Maria and Alexei finished 2nd in the
free skate at Nationals to win the silver medal.
01.09.04 - Maria and Alexei finished 2nd in the
short program at Russian
Nationals. The event concludes Saturday with the free
skate.
12.28.03 - Maria and Alexei
will compete at Russian
Nationals from January 7-11 in their hometown of Saint
Petersburg.
Schedule:
Pairs short: January 9 - 6:15PM
Pairs free: January 10 - 5:30PM
Exhibition: January 11 - 1:00PM
December 13, 2003 - With
a total score of 166.76, Maria and Alexei won the bronze
medal at the Grand Prix Final. Now they will return to Russia
to prepare for Russian nationals.
December 12, 2003 - Maria and Alexei are in 3rd
place after the short program with a score of 56.32.
December 11, 2003 - Maria and Alexei are in Colorado
Springs for the Grand
Prix Final. Masha and Lesha have made the Grand Prix
Final every season since they formed their partnership.
Their highest finish was 3rd place in 1999.

November 28, 2003 - A
gold
medal for Maria and Alexei at NHK Trophy. Masha and
Lesha finished 1st in the free program with a score of 118.72.
Combined with their short program score of 63.24, they finish
the event with 181.96. They have now qualified
for the Grand Prix Final.
November 27, 2003 - Maria and Alexei start out
NHK Trophy with a first place finish in the short
program with 63.24 points.
November 07, 2003 - Maria and Alexei wrap up competition
in China with a bronze medal. They are excited to be heading
to Lithuania to skate in the Ice Flames tour presented by
Margarita Drobiazko & Povilas Vanagas.
November 06, 2003 - Maria and Alexei are in 3rd
place at Cup
of China after the short
program.
October 25, 2003 - Maria and Alexei won the free
skate at Skate America with a strong performance of "Mister
X." Although they finished first in the long program,
they placed 2nd overall when both short and free program
scores were added. They finished just .12 behind Pang/Tong
of China, the gold medallists.
October 23, 2003 - Maria and Alexei finished in
2nd place with a score of 64.94, just 2.14 points behind
the short program winners, Qing Pang and Jian Tong of China.
October 22, 2003 - Maria and Alexei are
competing at Skate America this week. Below is the schedule
