Pirates of the Caribbean 2004

Report by Nadia Kukebaeva

Margarita and Povilas are going to spend another pleasant summer in Sun Valley, Idaho. From June till September they skate the Sun Valley Ice Shows which takes place every Saturday and also work there as coaches. For these shows Rita and Povilas have prepared two new routines: Latin combination and Pirates
of the Caribbean. It s easy to guess what movie it is based on. ;-) Margarita and Povilas got the idea of this program last year in Sun Valley after they'd seen the movie. And a year later they present here their new routine for the first time.

Over this year Margarita and Povilas worked extremely hard. But this work was very exiting. On the ice they worked with choreographer Elena Maslennikova who was their main coach and choreographer from 1989 through 1999 and she choreographed their 2002 Olympic programs and their best gala-routines.

To turn into pirates they had to take fencing lessons - not simple fencing but artistic fencing. Margarita and Povilas worked with Grigori Levakov and Andrei Uraev. Grigori teaches fencing in drama schools in Moscow. He also taught fencing to Adrian Paul when he acted in Highlander. Andrei is a well-known in Russia fencing producer. He worked in many theaters in Russia and other countries.
